PLANNING: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
When developing our characters we decided to hot seat/interview the actors which were playing these roles. This had been inspired by an article written by Charlie Sierra, which we saw on the Film Escape website which discussed building a backstory to a different character. This allowed the producers, actors and directors to create a deeper back story for our characters. We created a number of questions which we felt were necessary to ask the actors in our production.
We also felt that it was a good idea to create an audio presentation which includes a visual of the actor who is speaking. We upload it to the official YouTube channel of The Fugitive (click to see).

PLANNING: LOCATIONS
We made a mind map showing the different locations that we wanted to use. We felt that London was a very good place to film because of the diversity of buildings, streets and the general public.

PLANNING: CHARACTERS
When casting our film we needed to analysis the social classes of the characters so that they can be easily recognisable to the viewers. I decided to do some research and found images of the different social classes that we will use, such as the police, smugglers (mafia, cartels and those who have transported cargo), convicted criminals and victims.
The two images at the bottom are from two BBC news articles on the Essex lorry incident in 2019. |
Alongside this, we researched the various non-named characters (extra/public) that would be involved in the filming. As our location is in London, we looked at the various stereotypical people that would be seen in a busy place like London.
We created Pinterest mood boards to illustrate the social classes and stereotypes that we want to use in our production. The stereotypes of a criminal master mind, a young detective and an associate to the human trafficker.

The anti-stereotype is the female detective because the word detective usually has connotations with an image of a rough male detective/or young male detective.
The main focus of our production is human trafficking and the effect it has on each the people involved.
